The poet William Wordsworth lived here from 1813 until his death in 1850. The house is a profound insight into the latter half of the poet’s life. It is full of original artefacts and furniture owned by Wordsworth.
The gardens at Rydal Mount embody the ideals of the Romantic Poets and have beautiful views over Rydal Water. Fascinating at all year round, they’re particularly bursting with colour during the summer months. Wordsworth’s Writing Hut still stands in the garden.
Summer opening times from 01st April – 31st October, 7 days a week, 9.30am – 5.00pm
Winter opening times until 31st March, Wednesday – Sunday, 11.00am – 4.00pm
